This Privacy Policy ("Policy") describes how Tacit ("Tacit", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects information about you when you access or use the Tacit mobile application and related services (collectively, the "App" or "Service"). Tacit is an AI-assisted dating service currently available only to individuals located in the United States who are 18 years of age or older.

This Policy is incorporated into and forms part of our Terms of Service. Please read both documents carefully. By creating an account or otherwise using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Policy. If you do not agree with this Policy, do not use the App.

We do not collect your email address, and we do not use a password.


4. Information we collect

4.1 Information you provide to us

Account and authentication. When you sign up, we collect your mobile phone number. We use it to create your Account and to authenticate you with a one-time SMS verification code. We do not collect a password or email address.

Profile information. When you build your profile, you provide:

Matching preferences. The gender(s) you are interested in, your preferred age range, and what you are looking for in connections.

Interview responses. Tacit's core feature is a guided, conversational "interview" with an AI agent. We collect your responses and the full interview conversation, which we use to generate your Private Profile (see Section 7).

Communications with other users. The content of messages you send and receive in chats with your matches.

Support and feedback. Any feedback you submit, and any reports you file about other users.

When you use the App, we and our Service Providers automatically collect limited technical information, which may include:

When you grant location permission during registration, we read your device's location once and convert it into a city name to show you people nearby and enable local matching. We do not continuously track your location, and we do not store your precise GPS coordinates after deriving your city. You can decline or revoke location permission in your device settings; this may limit location-based features.


5. Cookies, SDKs, and similar technologies

The App is a mobile application, not a website, and does not use browser cookies. Like most mobile apps, it relies on software development kits (SDKs), device identifiers, and local device storage provided by our platform and Service Providers (for example, to keep you logged in securely, deliver push notifications, and operate core features). We do not use these technologies for third-party advertising, and we do not allow third parties to use them to build advertising profiles of you through the App.


6. How we use your information

We use your information for the following purposes:

We process your information on the bases that it is necessary to provide the Service you request, that it serves our legitimate interests (such as safety and improving the App) in a manner that does not override your rights, that we have obtained your consent (for example, for location or notifications), or that processing is required to comply with law.


7. Automated processing and AI profiling

Tacit relies on automated processing and artificial intelligence to deliver its core experience:

Your interview responses and profile data are sent to Google's Gemini AI models for this processing (see Section 8.2). AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or unexpected, and the matches and insights it produces are suggestions, not guarantees. The App's automated processing does not produce legal or similarly significant effects about you; it is used to operate a dating service. If you have questions about how automated processing affects you, contact us using Section 20.


8. How we share and disclose information

We share information only as described below. We do not sell your Personal Information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

8.1 With other users

Other users of the App can see the public parts of your profile: your nickname, age, city, photos, public profile text, and (where you provide them) your education and occupation, together with AI-generated compatibility insights once a match is "decoded."

Other users cannot see your phone number, your date of birth (only your age is shown), your raw interview responses, your Private Profile, your income range (unless you choose to surface it in your public profile), your swipe history, your reports or blocks, or your device token.

Information you choose to share in messages or your public profile may be seen, saved, or re-shared by other users. Please be thoughtful about what you disclose.

8.2 With Service Providers

We share information with vendors that process it on our behalf to operate the App:

Service Providers are authorized to use your information only to provide services to us, subject to their own terms and applicable law.

We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that it is necessary to: comply with a law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; enforce our Terms of Service; detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues; or protect the rights, property, or safety of Tacit, our users, or the public.

8.4 Business transfers

If Tacit is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will require the recipient to honor this Policy or provide notice of any material change.

We may share information for other purposes with your consent or at your direction.


The App relies on the third-party services listed above, each of which has its own privacy practices that we do not control. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of Google, Apple, and any other third party whose services you interact with. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties.


10. Data retention

We retain your Personal Information for as long as your Account is active and as needed to provide the Service. When your Account is deleted, we delete or de-identify your Personal Information as described in Section 11, except where we are permitted or required to retain it, such as:

12. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and restricted database permissions. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining access to your phone number and for using the App on a secure device.

If we become aware of a security incident affecting your Personal Information, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities where required by law.


13. International data processing

The App is offered to users in the United States, and your information is processed and stored in the United States by us and our Service Providers. If you access the App from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those of your location.


14. Your privacy choices

We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your privacy rights.


15. California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act ("CCPA/CPRA"), provides you with specific rights. This section supplements the rest of this Policy.

15.2 Sensitive Personal Information

Because Tacit is a dating service, certain information we process is "Sensitive Personal Information" under California law, including:

We use Sensitive Personal Information only to provide and operate the Service you have requested (including matching and messaging) and for the other limited purposes permitted by law. We do not use or disclose it to infer characteristics about you for any purpose beyond providing the Service. We do not sell or share it.

We collect Personal Information from the sources described in Section 4 and use it for the business and commercial purposes described in Section 6. We disclose Personal Information to the categories of recipients described in Section 8.

To submit a request, contact us at support@tacitmore.com. We will verify your request using information associated with your Account (such as your phone number). You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf, subject to verification. We will respond within the timeframes required by law.

15.6 "Shine the Light"

California Civil Code § 1798.83 permits California residents to request information about disclosures of Personal Information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. We do not disclose Personal Information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes.


16. Other U.S. state privacy rights

Residents of certain other U.S. states may have rights similar to those described above, including rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a portable copy of their Personal Information, and to opt out of targeted advertising, sale, or certain profiling. We do not sell Personal Information, share it for targeted advertising, or engage in profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects. To exercise any available right, contact us at support@tacitmore.com, and we will respond as required by applicable law. Where required, you may appeal a decision regarding your request by replying to our response.


17. Children's privacy

The App is intended only for adults 18 and older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect Personal Information from anyone under 18, consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and other applicable laws. If you believe a person under 18 has provided us with Personal Information, contact us at support@tacitmore.com, and we will promptly delete it.


18. "Do Not Track" signals

Some browsers and devices offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. Because there is no common industry standard for DNT and the App does not track you across third-party websites or services for advertising, the App does not respond differently to DNT signals.


19. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice in the App. Changes are effective when posted unless stated otherwise. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
